The fictional Air Mag self-lacing sneakers, famously featured in Back to the Future Part II (1989), became a reality almost three decades later. In 2016, N1ke released an extremely limited edition of just 89 pairs. These original pairs were offered through an online raffle, with proceeds supporting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s disease. Designed with built-in sensors, the shoes automatically adjust to the wearer’s unique foot shape, tightening and loosening as needed. Their futuristic design is accentuated by glowing lights in the midsole, heel, and strap.
